When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and a password. When you use the app, we collect the recipes, meal plans, and grocery lists you create. We also log AI feature usage (such as recipe imports) to monitor platform performance and costs.

When you use AI import features (URL, text, or photo), the content you provide is sent to a third-party AI provider (Anthropic) to extract recipe information. This content is processed according to Anthropic's privacy and data usage policies, which prohibit using API inputs to train their models.

We do not sell your personal information. We share data with third parties only as necessary to operate the service (such as our AI provider) or as required by law. Public recipes you choose to publish are visible to all users of the platform.

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal information and private recipes will be removed. Public recipes may remain on the platform or be retained in anonymised form.

We take reasonable measures to protect your data, including encrypted passwords and HTTPS connections. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

ChefDeck uses session cookies to keep you logged in and to maintain application state. We also use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site, which sets its own cookies to collect anonymised usage data such as pages visited, device type, and approximate location. This information is processed by Google in accordance with their privacy policy. We do not use advertising cookies.

You may update or delete your account information at any time through the Settings page. If you would like to request a full export or deletion of your data, please contact us through the app.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes where possible. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
